Trying To Stick To a Healthy Eating Plan

Well, here in the Northeast we have had a little break from the heat and humidity.  However, its supposed to be hot again by the end of the week.  I don't mind it though.

Had my morning workout with the Trainer.  He's awesome!  I did the leg press, the row machine, and the 35 lb weight bar on the bench press machine ( I think that's what its called ).  We also did lunges and step ups with me holding 12 lb kettlebells.  Then I had to do push ups and sit ups on the inclined bench.  Needless to say, I was sweating and could barely walk into the locker room to get showered.  And the Trainer had the nerve to ask me if he was working me hard enough!!????  Uh, yeah, I think so!!!!

Anyway, the goal is to concentrate more on what I am eating.  This morning on my way in I had a protein smoothie ( frozen banana, frozen berries, almond milk, yogurt, and chocolate whey protein powder).  After my workout I had some oatmeal.  Then about two hours later I was feeing hungry so I had an egg and cheese sandwich on an english muffin. Now I'm drinking some water because I really need to up my water intake.  Especially with this heat.  Lunch is supposed to be a salad.  I say supposed to be because I looked at my salad and it is wilted...guess I shouldn't have put the olive oil and lemon on it until I was ready to eat it.  So, if I don't eat the salad, I plan on having a turkey sandwich.  Crossing my fingers that I can stick to this plan.

What do you do if your healthy eating plan doesn't work out for a meal?  Do you give up for the whole day or do you try to get back to healthy at the next meal?

Until next time, stay strong and eat healthy.

So Excited

Hope everyone is having a terrific Sunday.  This heat these past couple of days has been horrendous!  I still managed to go to the Y to get some cardio and strength training in.  I was so proud of myself because it meant having to get up early while on vacation.  I am determined to get healthier so I had to keep telling myself that its going to be worth it for me to make sacrifices like getting up at the crack of dawn.
I'm so excited to be attending the HLSummit in Philly in August.  I must admit that I am also very nervous because I have never attended a blogging event like this before.  However, my fears have been somewhat parlayed because Caitlin over at HTP was so kind ro start an email list of all the newbies attending so that we could reach out to each other and also see that we are not alone.  Thank you so much, Caitlin!  This has really made me wish the event was today.  :-)  I cannot wait to meet so many awesome people and to also learn a lot.
Well, gotta go for now, but until next time, stay strong and eat healthy.

Happy Birthday to Me.

Yesterday was my Birthday and let me tell you that I ate what I wanted to eat.  Which was not so good.  The celebration started on Sunday when we went out to dinner.  I had fish and mashed potatoes with a salad.  BUT I had a brownie sundae for dessert.  Ok I said to myself, its my birthday so I am having dessert.  It would have been ok if I stopped there, but Monday my co-workers surprised me with gourmet cupcakes.  Can you just see me drooling now??!!! They were delicious!  I did not want to say no to those.  So, the birthday is now gone and I am dealing with the unhealthy eating that I did over those couple of days.  I got right back in the gym this morning with the Trainer and he kicked my butt!!!  We did circuits on the machines and then ab work on the incline bench.  As I am sitting here typing this, my stomach muscles are T-I-G-H-T!!!!  Oh the burn.  So, I am determined to get back into the thick of it and not let a couple of bad days derail me.
Until next time, stay strong and eat healthy.  How do you recover from bad eating days?

The Circuit

Hope everyone's Fourth of July was filled with lots of fun. I know I had a blast hanging with family and friends.  I must admit that I did not do much on the exercise front though.  However, Tuesday morning I made up for that by having a session with the Trainer.
He had me doing a circuit and let me tell you that I just LOVED it.  We did step ups with the kettlebell which was 25lbs.  Then we did squat and presses with 10 lb dumb bells.  Next up was lunges with the same 25lb kettlebells.  Followed by ab work on the mat.  And finallhy we did some boxing.  We did this circuit two times and let me say that I was winded.  I hope we do more circuit type things.  I let the Trainer know that I like these so that maybe he can work them into our routine more.  I think our sessions were running out so I signed up for 5 more....oh boy!!!!  I don't know what I was thinking......lol.
I was supposed to be out bike riding this morning but I am catching a dredded head cold.  My sinuses are all congested and clogged.  UGH!!!!  So, I am just going to take it easy this morning.
Until next time, stay strong and eat healthy.
